All fee-paying students are charged the Member rate for meals during their fee-paying terms. For those paying fees in the Easter Term this will include the period up to and including 30 September in that year.
PhD and EngD students are given a further twelve months at the Member rate (part-time PhD students are given 24 months) following their final fee-paying term and this would normally cover their fourth year ‘writing up’ period. Students on any other course cease to be eligible for the Member rate from the beginning of the term following their last term of research.
Students studying for the MSc/MLitt/MD degree must contact the Accounts Office after their last fee-paying term.
Students who have not submitted at the point at which they cease to be eligible for the Member rate and who have applied to the University for an extension to their registration date may also apply to the College to continue to take meals at the Member rate. Extensions to the Member rate period are made on a term-by-term basis so students need to apply every term for which they are seeking the extension. A student who has applied for an extension will be entitled to the Member rate for meals for the whole term even if they submit part way through the term.
Applications to continue paying the Member rate for meals can be made by letter or email to the College Accounts Office accounts@darwin.cam.ac.uk [1] using the format below. Please ensure you provide a copy of your approved extension letter from the University and confirm that you have not yet submitted.
